Telehealth

There are many reasons why someone may not be able to attend face to face therapy sessions.

Clients that are in quarantine/self-isolation, have mobility concerns, or other conditions that could prevent attending therapy sessions in person can opt to have their sessions conducted online via video conferencing.

You can access telehealth from the comfort of your own home.  You use a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone to connect via the internet and conduct your sessions in real-time with your regular psychologist.

For more information on telehealth and how to attend a telehealth session please see below.

Preparing for Telehealth (online) sessions:

Before your appointment:

  • You can use your phone, iPad, laptop or desktop computer for telehealth sessions.
  • If using a handheld device download the ZOOM app on your phone or device via the app store or Google Play. Ensure that you have done this at least 1 hour before your appointment.
  • If using your laptop or desktop, you will be prompted to download zoom via the invitation your psychologist sends or you can download here https://zoom.us/download

At your scheduled appointment time:

  • Your psychologist will send you a ZOOM link via email. When you click on the link, follow the prompts. Make sure you allow your device to use the microphone and camera.
  • Here is a little video that outlines how to join a zoom session https://youtu.be/vFhAEoCF7jg.
  • After you have logged into the session you and your psychologist can now conduct your therapy.
  • When your session is finished, simply log out.

Some hints to help things go smoothly:

  • Ensure that your device is fully charged or plugged in before the session begins.
  • Be aware that how you position your device (and its camera) will determine what your clinician can see.  Practice positioning the device to offer best visibility and comfort for yourself
  • Make sure the camera and audio are both turned on and if you are using headphones that they are plugged in or installed correctly
  • Ensure that you are connected to the internet
  • Contact us a day before your appointment if you are having any technical difficulties or need help getting set up.
